Itinerary

Day 1: RECEPTION IN LIMA – CITY TOUR ½ DAY

AM or PM: Welcome to Lima! Upon arrival at the airport, our team will be there to greet you and transfer you by private transport to your hotel in the Miraflores district.
Check-in at the hotel. Free time to rest and have lunch before the afternoon tour begins.
14:00 hrs: Hotel pick-up and start of the 4-hour Lima City Tour, covering the Historic Center and the Miraflores district. Key stops include: Plaza de Armas, Government Palace, Cathedral of Lima, Archbishop’s Palace, Cordano Bar, San Francisco Museum, and Miraflores seafront.
Return to the hotel at the end of the tour. Overnight at the hotel in Lima (Peru).

Day 2: LIMA – BALLESTAS ISLANDS – ICA – HUACACHINA – NAZCA

05:00 hrs: Hotel pick-up in Lima and departure south along the Pan-American Highway toward Paracas (approximately 245 km). Optional breakfast stop in Chincha en route.
07:45 hrs: Arrival in Paracas.
08:00 hrs: Boat tour to the Ballestas Islands. Along the way, admire the famous Candelabra geoglyph carved into the cliffs of Independence Bay. On the islands, observe an impressive variety of marine wildlife including Humboldt penguins, sea lions, pelicans, cormorants, and dolphins. Duration: approximately 2 hours.
10:30 hrs: Return to port and departure to Ica.
11:00 hrs: Visit to a traditional pisco and wine cellar (El Catador or Nieto), where you will learn about artisanal production methods and enjoy a tasting session.
Free time for lunch in Ica (not included).
16:00 hrs: Visit to the Huacachina Oasis, a natural lagoon surrounded by towering sand dunes, 5 km from Ica. Enjoy a 90-minute dune buggy ride across the highest dunes in the area a thrilling experience for adventure seekers.
Departure by private transport to the city of Nazca (approximately 2.5 hours). Overnight at the hotel in Nazca (Peru).

Day 3: FLIGHT OVER THE NAZCA LINES – AREQUIPA

AM: Breakfast at the hotel.
08:00 hrs: Transfer to the Nazca airfield for your scenic flight over the Nazca Lines. During the 35-minute flight, you will observe up to 12 of the most remarkable geoglyphs: the Whale, Trapezoids, Astronaut, Monkey, Dog, Condor, Spider, Hummingbird, Flamingo, Parrot, Hands, and Tree.
After the flight, free time for lunch (not included).
Afternoon departure by tourist bus to Arequipa, known as the White City. The journey passes through scenic valleys and diverse landscapes rich in flora and fauna.
Arrival in Arequipa and transfer to your hotel in the Historic Center. Overnight at the hotel in Arequipa (Peru).

Day 4: AREQUIPA CITY TOUR – ½ DAY

AM: Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning to rest after the previous day’s journey.
13:30 hrs: Hotel pick-up and start of the Arequipa City Tour. Highlights include the Santa Catalina Convent, a remarkable 16th-century religious complex opened to the public in 1970; Plaza de Armas; the cloisters of the Society of Jesus; the traditional neighborhoods of Cayma and Yanahuara with panoramic views of the Misti volcano; and the colonial Founder’s Mansion.
18:00 hrs: Return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Arequipa (Peru).

Day 5: AREQUIPA – CHIVAY – COLCA VALLEY

07:30 – 08:00 hrs: Hotel pick-up and departure toward the Colca Canyon (approximately 4 hours). The route follows the Yura highway, skirting the snow-capped Chachani peak and crossing the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve, home to vicuñas, flamingos, and other Andean wildlife. En route, stop at the Chucura volcanic crater viewpoint at 4,910 m.a.s.l.
Arrival in Chivay and check-in at the hotel.
Afternoon visit to the Calera thermal hot springs (35–38°C), where you can soak and unwind for approximately 2 hours.
19:00 hrs: Evening dinner with a folkloric show featuring traditional dances of the Colca Valley. Overnight at the hotel in Chivay (Peru).

Day 6: CHIVAY – COLCA CANYON – PUNO

AM: Breakfast at the hotel and departure toward the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, the most spectacular section of the Colca Canyon — one of the deepest gorges on the planet. With luck, you will spot Andean condors soaring above the canyon walls in their natural habitat.
Continue through the canyon, passing through the traditional villages of Pinchollo, Madrigal, Lari, Maca, Achoma, and Yanque.
Return to Chivay for lunch (not included).
Afternoon departure to Puno.
18:30 hrs: Approximate arrival in Puno and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Puno (Peru).

Day 7: PUNO – LAKE TITICACA TOUR (UROS FLOATING ISLANDS & TAQUILE)

AM: Breakfast at the hotel.
06:45 hrs: Transfer to the port of Puno and board the boat to the Uros Floating Islands (30 minutes by boat). Spend 1 hour and 30 minutes on the islands, learning about the ancestral traditions of the Uru people, who construct their remarkable floating homes entirely from totora reeds.
Boat journey to Taquile Island (1 hour). Walk to the Plaza de Armas, visit local artisan workshops, and enjoy lunch at a traditional family home on the island.
Return by boat to the port of Puno and transfer to the hotel, or drop-off in the city center if preferred. Overnight at the hotel in Puno (Peru).

Day 8: PUNO – CUSCO (TOURIST BUS)

AM: Breakfast at the hotel.
06:15 hrs: Hotel pick-up and transfer to the bus terminal for the 07:00 hrs departure to Cusco.
The scenic 10-hour journey crosses the southern Peruvian highlands with 5 stops along the way, including 3 guided visits: the Andahuaylillas Church (known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas), the Raqchi Temple of Wiracocha, and the Pukará Lithic Museum. Buffet lunch included in the town of Sicuani. Photo stop at the Abra La Raya Pass, the highest point of the route.
17:00 hrs: Arrival in Puno and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Cusco (Peru).

Day 9: CUSCO CITY TOUR – ½ DAY

AM: Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning to rest and acclimatize to Cusco’s altitude (3,400 m.a.s.l.).
13:30 hrs: Hotel pick-up and start of the Cusco City Tour. The tour covers the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha), the Plaza de Armas, and the four main Inca archaeological sites surrounding the city: Sacsayhuamán fortress, Qenqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay.
Return to the hotel at the end of the tour. Overnight at the hotel in Cusco (Peru).

Day 10: SACRED VALLEY TOUR – AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN

07:30 hrs: Hotel pick-up in Cusco and departure to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Morning visits to Chinchero (local market and colonial temple), Moray (Inca agricultural research terraces), and the Maras Salt Mines (pre-Inca salt evaporation ponds still in use today).
Lunch in Urubamba (not included). Free time to explore the town.
Afternoon visit to Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca towns in Peru. Guided tour of the fortress and the living Inca streets of the village.
15:37 hrs: Board the tourist train at Ollantaytambo station for the scenic 1-hour 45-minute journey to Aguas Calientes, passing through cloud forest, snow-capped peaks, and Inca terracing.
Arrival in Aguas Calientes and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Aguas Calientes (Peru).

Day 11: MACHU PICCHU TOUR – RETURN TO CUSCO

AM: Breakfast at the hotel.
06:30 hrs: Your guide will escort you to the bus station for the 30-minute ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
Guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel (over 2 hours), visiting the Main Square, Temple of the Sun, Sacred Solar Clock, Royal Quarters, Temple of the Three Windows, and the cemetery sector. Time for personal exploration after the guided visit.
Optional: climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (additional cost of USD $75 per person, approximately 2 extra hours of hiking).
Bus ride back down to Aguas Calientes. Free time for lunch (not included).
Afternoon train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, followed by a 2-hour private transfer back to Cusco.
Approximate arrival in Cusco at 18:30 hrs. Overnight at the hotel in Cusco (Peru).

Day 12: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN FULL DAY TOUR

05:00 hrs: Hotel pick-up in Cusco and departure by private transport.
2-hour drive through mountain villages and valleys to the town of Cusipata. Breakfast stop at a local restaurant with views of the surrounding peaks.
Further 90-minute drive up the valley to the trailhead at 4,650 m / 15,255 ft.
Guided hike to the Rainbow Mountain viewpoint (Vinicunca). Option to hire a horse for the first section of the trail (extra cost). The summit sits at 5,040 m / 16,535 ft and offers breathtaking views of the multicolored mineral-rich slopes in shades of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue.
Optional extension to the Red Valley viewpoint, a quieter and equally spectacular section of the route.
Descent and return by transport to Cusipata for lunch at a local restaurant.
2-hour drive back to Cusco. Approximate arrival at your hotel at 16:00 hrs. Overnight at the hotel in Cusco (Peru).

Day 13: RETURN CUSCO – LIMA – HOME

AM: Breakfast at the hotel.
At the appropriate time, hotel pick-up and transfer to Cusco International Airport for your return flight to Lima.
Flight schedule from Cusco to Lima will be coordinated according to your international departure time.

Unforgettable Experience

15 Days In-Depth Tour of Peru

The tour was good but not very suitable for elderly travelers because of the early wake-up times.

The long bus trip from Nazca to Arequipa was especially tough. We left Nazca at 4 PM and arrived in Arequipa around 2:30 AM.

Tour guide Tatiana and all drivers did a very good job.
